Overview

We rely on cutting-edge structural engineering tools, technologies, and experimental facilities to develop and deploy new structural forms for enhanced infrastructure resilience and robustness against extreme loads. The cornerstone of our research into protection engineering is a large-scale gas-detonation blast simulator located at Virginia Tech’s Blacksburg campus.

In this page, we provide a summary of our unique experimental facilities and share our freely available software tools. You can learn more about our resources by visiting the tabs on the menu.

We welcome requests from outside companies or research centers interested in booking the facilities or collaborating on studies related to any aspect of blast & impact protection, testing, and development.
