Welcome to the new Infrastructure Protection Research Group webpage! Led by Dr. Eric Jacques, Assistant Professor in CEE Structural Engineering and Materials, the research group is committed to safeguarding the physical security and socio-economic well-being of the public against improvised terrorist bombings and accidental industrial explosions. Central to our focus is the new Virginia Tech Shock Tube Test Facility, arriving in March 2019. This unique research installation is the only large-scale shock tube for blast-induced structural testing at a university in the United States. Our strengths are in quasi-static, blast, and impact testing, low- and high-fidelity analysis, protective design evaluation, and custom software development.
